Ultra-Thin Window Cleaning Robots: A Practical Buying Guide

SHARE
Why thickness matters
An ultra-thin body is not a styling choice. Slimmer units fit behind window frames and balcony rails, which is where conventional cleaners simply cannot be placed.
Four specifications to check
- Suction pressure: look for 2,500 Pa or more for smooth glass; dusty or textured surfaces need headroom.
- Safety system: a tether plus a battery-backed hold-down is mandatory above the first floor.
- Edge detection: sensors must recognise frame corners, not just the pane boundary.
- Water management: spray nozzles should be serviceable without dismantling the chassis.
Cleaning patterns
Zig-zag coverage handles most windows. On panes wider than 1.5 metres, a double-pass pattern removes the streaks that a single pass leaves along the frame.
Maintenance
Replace the squeegee blade every two to three months in commercial use, and clean the suction impeller monthly. Most reported failures are blocked airflow, not electronics.
